What makes this resort fantastic for a multi generational family trip? Gaeavilla Resort (秧悦美地度假酒店) sits in Ji’an, Hualien, on organic herb farmland at the foot of the Central Mountains, with Qilai Mountain in the distance. The grounds cover about 16 acres of with organic gardens everywhere you go. Gaeavilla Resort opened in 2019 as a green/eco resort built around its organic herbs and gardens. Most rooms have a herb steam bath and a bathtub. On the grounds you also get a 25-meter outdoor pool, a warm herbal hydrosol pool, GAEA SPA, and the Essence 23 restaurant for meals grown from the organic garden. Perfect for a relaxing easy going day within the resort.
Why is this hotel great for grandparents? The herb steam and tub are in the room, so soaking does not mean a crowded public bath. GAEA SPA is on the 5th floor of the main building, with treatment rooms, a steam room, and a sauna. The health center on the 3rd floor is great for slower exercise aimed, and it is open from 8:00 to 20:00. At the Essence 23 restaurant, guests 65 and over pay 80% of the listed meal price (a 10% service charge still applies), and children 5 and under eat free. Two accessible rooms have a flat floor for a wheelchair with ample space for wheelchair mobility but do not have a bath tub. Parking is free. A round-trip shuttle runs to Hualien Train Station and Hualien Airport for the people on the booking (book a day ahead; children under 6 ride free, and extra guests 6 and over pay).
Why is this hotel great for grandkids? The kids club is on the 3rd floor of the main building for ages 3 to 10, with a play area, a quiet reading corner, and a board-game and craft space, (open from 8:00 to 20:00). The outdoor pool is 25 meters long and 1.1 meters deep, open from 8:00 to 21:30 with a cleaning break from 12:00 to 13:30. The herbal hydrosol pool stays around 35°C and is a favorite for families. Cribs fit children under 3 (about 95 cm and 18 kg). Children 5 and under stay free, up to 2 per room. The Rose Geranium garden suite has a daybed and a soft extra bed for kids, and the Royal Rose Villa has two bedrooms and sleeps 4. Older kids can join the organic herb farm and garden activities on the property.
